What is “Domain registration”?

The domain is the address of your website. This is what people will type in when looking for your website.(Ours is JeremyWebb.Dev) It should accurately reflect your business name and be easy to remember accurately (avoid words that might be misspelled by users later). Google Domains offers an easy to use marketplace for searching, registering and managing domains at great rates. Keep in mind, domains are registered in one year increments; there is no lifetime option to buy domain names.

All of our website packages include basic domain registration for the first year (if you don’t have one). Annual renewal of the domain is $14.99 through J. Webb Concepts but we encourage our clients to maintain the registration themselves and are happy to “transfer” the domain to an individual account to save additional costs. Renewal must be paid before the end of the term to guarantee your website stays online for your customers.

What is a Hosting Service?

Hosting Services provide a home for all of your website’s files, blogs, images, videos, etc. Without good hosting service your site could go down due to too much traffic or lack of storage space—both problems we would like to avoid! Our packages include either shared (cheaper but more limited) or dedicated servers which offer the most power at a higher price. 

Which do I need: Shared Hosting or Dedicated Hosting?

Websites with a large amount of content, images, or shop items will need to be hosted on our dedicated servers (Divi.Space) to ensure your clients receive a smooth browsing experience. The shared hosting packages are great for small websites and landing pages that are light on content. Although shared hosting is slightly slower, it provides a great user experience at a lower price point. This allows us to pass that savings to our clients and keep prices low. 

What is SSL and why do I need it?

Many websites offer the ability to purchase products or services online. This is convenient for customers, but it also poses a problem: How do you know that your payment information and personal data are secure? You can protect yourself with “SSL certificates”. When you buy an SSL certificate, you get encryption keys for securing your site’s content as well as authentication of your website address so users know they’re dealing with the right company – not an imposter! 

 

All of our websites include an SSL certificate free of charge. Security is a priority and can not be skipped.

What is WordPress?

WordPress is a free and open-source blogging platform. It’s one of the most popular website builders on the internet, with over 60 million websites built on it including sites like Forbes, Time Magazine and CNN. 

This acts as your dashboard for your new website. Clients are able to make some updates including blog posts, event updates, and more themselves. For us, it opens up all of the design and coding possibilities needed to make your website successful.

What is Divi?

Divi Theme Builder is a drag-and-drop website builder that stacks on top of WordPress. You can customize your site, and use the WordPress content management system to write posts, pages, and other content. 

This means our websites are responsive, mobile friendly, and have almost unlimited design options, with an SEO optimized code structure. On top of that, the Divi Builder is easy to use for beginners. That means our clients can save costs by managing some additional content themselves, including blog posts and business updates. 

Keep in mind that we are with you every step of the way! All of our packages include minor content updates as part of their included maintenance plans. Divi is a subscription theme, but all of our website packages come with a lifetime subscription included. 

What is WooCommerce?

Woocommerce is an open source ecommerce platform for WordPress websites which has over 2 million active users. It is an easy-to-use system for entrepreneurs who want to sell their goods on the internet.  With this plugin, customers can purchase items through your site with many payment methods including credit card, PayPal and more! In addition, it offers order fulfillment capabilities and inventory management tools that make running a business easier than ever before. 

What are the transaction fees on WooCommerce Payments?

WooCommerce Payments has no setup charge and no monthly fees. You pay 2.9% + $0.30 for each transaction made with U.S.-issued credit or debit cards. For cards issued outside the U.S., there’s an additional 1% fee.

How many of my products can WooCommerce handle?

There is no limit to the number of products you can have on WooCommerce! While J. Webb Concepts does charge for setup of additional items as a service, WooCommerce allows unlimited items for no additional charge. The interface is simple to use by beginners, allowing most of our customers to add their own additional items with us only guiding them through.

What is “Responsive Design”? Will my website look great on my phone?

Your website will look great on all devices! With the popularity of smartphones, tablets and mobile web browsing has increased significantly in recent years. That’s why it’s so important to have a site that is optimized for these devices. Consumers typically use their mobile devices more than their computers nowadays. Because of this, we build all of our designs and layouts to be responsive. This means that the page will actually change depending on the device it is being viewed on. As we design, we are constantly checking and optimizing the mobile, tablet, and desktop versions of your website. Sometimes, this even requires an entire new layout for each device. It is so important to us that everything looks great on for all of your customers that we include these additional device layouts free of charge.

What happens after I place an order for my website?

Just like any online purchase, you’ll receive a confirmation email with an invoice for your order and a link to our contact page to schedule a strategy call to go over your ideas, goals and expectations for your website. On top of that, we’ll request the files and information we will need to build your website. This includes high quality logo files, brand images, and color palettes. Aside from that, we’ll request any resources or branding materials that you may have to help us better understand your business and target customer. Examples of websites that you like are great for inspiration too.

After going through all of the materials and the details of our strategy call, we’ll get to work drafting your design on a wireframe. Depending on the project, we might draft one or several wireframes to submit to you for approval.

What is a wireframe?

A wireframe is a visual guide for the layout of your website that will contain all of the important elements you want to include on it. Wireframes are used in web design to establish the organization and hierarchy as well as helping with navigation and user experience. 

Essentially, it provides an overview of what you want your site’s content to be without writing any code. This allows us to make decisions about how we will organize the content for maximum engagement from your audience, before getting into more detail-oriented tasks such as coding pages or adding images.

I’ve approved my wireframe, now what?

Once the wireframe is approved by you, two things will happen simultaneously.

  1. We start the website design process, turning your wireframe into an actual working website.
  2. You fill out a worksheet, provided by us, to create the copy of your website. (The words)
    1. Don’t stress! The worksheet will follow along with the wireframe with prompts to guide you through the process. 
What if I don’t want to write my own copy?

Not wanting to write your own copy for the website is completely understandable. J. Webb Concepts offers copywriting services as an additional charge. These projects can vary in size and scope and need to be priced accordingly. Let us know if you need this service anytime and we will happily quote you a fair price for the additional work.

My website is live! Who should I tell?!

Short answer: Everyone! Website success depends heavily on what you do with it and how you market it. Our websites are designed to convert your visitors into customers. The more visitors that land on your website, the more potential you have to make money. It is important to put your new domain on all of your social media platforms, including Google My Business, and any print materials that your business gives out, including business cards and flyers.

I love my new website! How can I say, “Thank you!”?

Customer satisfaction is our number one priority and the reason we are in business in the first place. Hopefully, all of our clients will happily leave us a rating and review on our Google My Business page. That is the fastest way for our new clients to see you are satisfied.
