Have you updated your Business Page?

Running a small business is hard enough without the constant struggle of marketing. Here’s two quick tips to help get your online marketing updated and the leads rolling by making some simple updates to your business page.

Update your Google my business profile

Updating your business profile on Google is one of the simplest tasks you can do today to increase your brand awareness.

When your customers begin looking for services like yours, their likely first step will be to google local businesses. Google will then return back thousands of web pages that might answer the customers needs. Then, as you scroll down, you may find your business on the second or third page of the results… likely being missed by potential customers.

These results are ranked on a number of factors that Google keeps close to their heart. They do this to avoid bad actors playing the system and giving an unfair advantage to one business or another.

The first results are “sponsored” meaning that the business paid to have it show up first. While this may seem like the easy solution to be noticed, these sponsored ads are pricey and do not always return the results you had hoped for. This is because most users scroll past the sponsored results and don’t always trust the business that paid to be there.

The best way to increase your chances of showing up at the top.

Optimize your business profile so that google wants to show you first. To do this, here’s a quick checklist to go over:

  1. Verify all contact information is correct and check on store hours and business details.
  2. Ensure all of your business social media accounts are linked.
  3. Post a couple of updates about your business. Include pictures and videos to engage your audience.
  4. Update your services to match what you offer
  5. Respond to every review, good or bad. Thank your fans and offer solutions to your critics.
  6. Share your review link on social media and ask past customers to come leave feedback.

By filling out the details of your business profile, Google will know more about your business and will have a better idea of who to show it to. Likewise, following up at least once a month to add updates will increase your visibility and help your business grow in the long term.

Update your Facebook Business Page

Like we talked about before, updating your profiles are a simple effective way to increase your brand awareness. Your Facebook business page is equally important to your online marketing success. Facebook gives your business the opportunity to be seen by millions of people that may not know you exist.

The steps to follow when updating your Facebook Business Profile are the same as above:

After filling out your profile and making the required updates, spend a few minutes interacting with your audience. Adverts and promotions are overwhelming your audience’s attention. Because of this. you have to interact with them genuinely. Respond to their comments and let them know you appreciate their interactions. Lastly, share some of your posts in relevant local groups. These groups offer extended exposure in your community that may not follow your page. Keep in mind that each group has their own rules for posting. Make sure you review their guidelines before sharing.
